It is important to introduce yourself when you first seat the patient. The patient must know who is serving them and what job occupies at Deluxe Dental. Many patients might confuse you for being the dentist or the dental hygienist.

Example of a proper introduction: “Good morning, my name is X and I will be your dental assistant today. How are you?”

Part of the dental assistant introduction is to get the patient to introduce themselves and confirm their name and date of birth. Doing so will ensure that the dental assistant is dealing with the right person.

After introduction, simply ask the patient for their date of birth.

In case of a child patient (2-5 years old), the guardian or parent accompanying them could be asked and the information confirmed through them.
